PT Daikin Airconditioning Indonesia (DAIKIN) officially announced the launch of the DAIKIN Proshop Designer Award 2025 competition today (April 25). Now in its fifth year, DAIKIN marks a new milestone by expanding this annual competition for architecture and interior design professionals and students through a collaboration between Indonesia and Malaysia.

"DAIKIN's consistent development in each edition of this event has brought it to the Indonesia-Malaysia level, in line with our hope that the DAIKIN Proshop Designer Award can become a benchmark for similar competitions and recognition platforms across ASEAN. This event aims to foster inspiration for ideal residential and commercial buildings that prioritize air system design while maintaining overall aesthetic harmony," said Shinji Miyata, President Director of PT Daikin Airconditioning Indonesia during the opening remarks.

First held in 2020, the DAIKIN Proshop Designer Award was born from the need to provide a platform for Indonesian architecture and interior design professionals and students to share their vision of the ideal living space with a focus on air system planning. It emphasizes not only aesthetics but also comfort and health for the people within the space.

As in previous years, DAIKIN collaborates with the Indonesian Institute of Architects (IAI) Jakarta and West Java chapters and the Indonesian Society of Interior Designers (HDII) Jakarta. Beyond maintaining its status as a prestigious event, the competition also seeks to reach broader communities through these organizations, which are the largest professional associations in their respective fields in Indonesia.

In this first-ever ASEAN-level edition, DAIKIN partners with DOMA Initiatives and the Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID). These organizations represent the architecture and interior design communities in Malaysia.

The involvement of both countries' associations is reflected in the 2025 judging panel. Malaysia is represented by Adjunct Professor IDr Joe WH Chan and IDr Wong Pei San from MIID, and architect Ar. Mun Inn Chan from DOMA Initiatives.

From Indonesia, the judging panel includes the renowned architect Tan Tik Lam, celebrated interior designer Alex Bayusaputro, and Cosmas Gozali, founder of Atelier Cosmas Gozali. Indonesian celebrity Daniel Mananta also joins the panel for this year’s event.

The theme for this year’s competition is “ORIGINALITY”, challenging participants to showcase innovation in designing ideal living spaces that highlight originality and human intuition—surpassing artificial intelligence (AI). "This theme represents our encouragement to preserve creative authenticity, which is increasingly under threat in the age of AI," added Shinji Miyata.

The competition remains divided into professional and student categories. It also maintains the two main project types: Built Projects (actual built designs) and Conceptual Projects (design proposals or drawings).

Participants can submit works for either residential buildings or F&B commercial buildings, with both open to professionals and students from Indonesia and Malaysia.

To raise the bar, this year’s conceptual design category invites participants to create residential or F&B commercial building designs on a site of less than 1,000 square meters. "This challenge is a chance for each participant to innovate and demonstrate their originality in designing ideal spaces with DAIKIN air systems that blend technology and aesthetics," said Shinji Miyata.

DAIKIN has prepared various prizes for winners in each category, including a total cash prize of IDR 530 million. Registration for the DAIKIN Proshop Designer Award 2025 is open from April 25 to August 31, 2025. The judging session will take place at the end of October.

The grand awarding ceremony will be held on November 27, 2025. For more detailed information, visit the official DAIKIN website.
