KOMPAS.com – PT Daikin Airconditioning Indonesia (DAIKIN) once again held the annual competition "DAIKIN Proshop Designer Award 2023" for interior design and architecture enthusiasts at the Westin Hotel, Jakarta, Friday (24/11/2023).
The competition selected 18 winners from three main categories and three special categories, representing the best works among more than 350 participants who had registered since June 1, 2023.
DAIKIN President Director Shinji Miyata expressed great pride in the increasing number of participants as well as the diverse approaches used in the winning entries.
“They bring a spirit to the growing idea of the birth of ideal residences that offer indoor comfort through a blend of aesthetics and air system design,” he said in a press release, Saturday (25/11/2023).
Shinji believes the growing idea of ideal housing aligns with the origins of the "DAIKIN Designer Award," which was held for the third time in 2023.
More than just a competition, the DAIKIN Designer Award aims to open up space for architecture and interior design enthusiasts to share a common vision of residences that prioritize aesthetic aspects.
Beyond that, this competition invites architecture and interior design professionals to present air system solutions that support comfort and health in harmony with the overall interior decoration of a space.
As a global AC specialist with nearly a century of experience, DAIKIN offers a variety of technologies and innovations in its product lines that support the vision of creating ideal housing.
That vision is realized through the DAIKIN Home Central AC lineup, which allows simplified installation related to piping.
One outdoor unit can be connected to several indoor units according to the required cooling capacity.
DAIKIN Home Central AC units also come with various indoor unit designs, deliberately created to blend in and enhance the elegance of different types of interior spaces.
Completing its advantages, it supports user health through its ability to maintain humidity levels and eliminate various harmful airborne particles through layered filtration.
Shinji said DAIKIN remains committed to continuing the DAIKIN Proshop Designer Awards in the future.
“With every DAIKIN Proshop Designer Awards event, we hope it becomes the beginning of the growing idea of ideal housing for Indonesian society, created through inspiring interactions among all participants,” he explained.
Winner Highlights
GeTs Architect became the first-place winner in the Finished Project category for architectural works.
This category represents residential projects already built using DAIKIN AC systems. GeTs Architect was chosen by a jury panel consisting of representatives from IAI and DAIKIN for their concept “The Gritted Grid.”
GeTs Architect utilized the MULTI NX type Home Central AC in a design involving boxtrox elements, and a play of solid and void in the building mass.
This design offers a unique aesthetic without compromising its main functions as air ventilation, sunlight filtering, and visual separation between public and private areas.
In the same category for interior design works, Cowema Studio was selected as the winner with their “Tropical Classic” project, which evokes an elegant feel in every corner of the building.
The 420-square-meter residential project was built with an emphasis on elegance, cleanliness, detail, and classic style.
The classic manifestation in its design lines was part of Cowema Studios effort to ensure the home matched Indonesias tropical climate.
They used the VRV Home Series and Multi NX from DAIKIN Home Central AC line and applied the boxtrox concept.
This concept was chosen to create a cleaner ceiling appearance, showing only a black line as the air duct outlet.
Conceptual Category
The conceptual works category was equally stunning. It consisted of two challenges: a residence and a commercial space for a food and beverage business.
These challenges were unique as participants had to design the interior of a private residence or shophouse for Sarwendah, an Indonesian celebrity who also served as a judge in this category.
For the residential interior, the design challenge was Sarwendahs house with her husband and three children at BSD City, Cluster Kanade at The Zora, Type 10, covering 200 square meters.
Meanwhile, for the commercial space interior, the challenge was to design Sarwendahs business located at Daikanyama Shophouse, The Zora BSD, Tangerang.
It was a high-difficulty challenge, as participants had to design the entire interior of two combined shophouses across three floors and a rooftop, with a total area of 200 square meters.
Sarwendah, who judged this conceptual category directly, expected the overall space design to serve as a Japanese-themed café, complete with a photo studio offering rentable traditional Japanese attire.
Rons Studio, with their classic modern concept, won the conceptual architecture category for professionals.
Their work titled “Classic Meets Ethnic in Modern House” captured the judges attention with its elegant color combinations and the use of locally crafted accessories that emphasized the spaces mood and identity.
The choice of warm brown wood materials created a cozy and homey atmosphere.
In the conceptual commercial interior category, PT Allure Cipta Persada won first place with their design “Nihon Nidorama.”
The work was inspired by the legendary Japanese story of a poor woman who achieved great success.
Its strong impression is seen in the main ornament resembling waves hitting a woman, representing the character Oshin.
The combination of straight and curved lines represents Oshin as a strong yet gentle woman, symbolizing womens empowerment.
Student Category
Special student participants from Bina Nusantara University Jakarta swept both categories.
The residential conceptual design category was won by Marvin Luckianto, Drake Agrajalada Liemmore, and Gerry Leonardo.
Meanwhile, the commercial Food & Beverages building design category was won by Darwis Jayadi, Alaric Ferdianus, and Alexandra Lidwina.
